Warning! Warning! EAS* Epidemic Spreading!

Americans lead the world in chronic disease. They are "among the most common, costly and preventable of all health problems in the U.S,” according to the Centers for Disease Control. Nearly 50% of the population has at least one, we spend 75% of our health care dollars treating them, and they are the cause of 7 out of 10 our deaths.

* Exercise Avoidance Syndrome (EAS) is well-known to be the No. 1 risk factor.

The best known antidote is adult family members assuming responsibility for their own commitment to regular exercise.

Studies show missing workouts may lead to indifference, habitual self-loathing, physical degeneration and a variety of emotional disorders (cranky, low self-esteem, excessive blaming and shaming others).

Habitual mood altering with TV, Internet, and other repetitive, low-energy- expenditure behaviors are reported common and highly predictable. Multiple studies have reported EAS is also often associated with mood-altering substances including high-fat, high-calorie foods and beverages, drug and alcohol abuse.

Left unattended, this condition often spirals out of control, triggering chronic lethargy, depression, self-loathing and defective personal relationships.

EAS is a learned behavior acquired most frequently in one’s family of origin. The best known antidote is adult family members assuming responsibility for their own commitment to regular exercise.

Yes, grandma had it right.  Kids do what we do; not what we tell them to do.

(If any of these conditions present themselves, consult with your closest fitness friend and have them haul your ass back to the gym not less than 3 to 4 times per week for 45 minutes each session.  Then, consultant with your physician to determine if you are strong enough to avert a major chronic EAS related disease
